Why does stepper motor need speed reducer?

In most cases,the planetary reducer is used with a servo motor. Mainly because the servo motor speed torque output is usually constant. The output speed and torque of the planetary reducer can be adjusted as required. (1)increase the motor output torque

The installation size of the stepper motor is small, and it is often suitable for some systems with limited installation conditions. Due to the small size of the stepper motor, the torque is also small, and after installing the planetary reducer, it plays a role in increasing the torque when the installation flange is unchanged.

(2) avoid the motor resonance area
Stepper motor at low speed will appear strong vibration and noise, we call the stepper motor "resonance zone", "resonance zone" generally appears in the motor speed of (40-100 RPM) low speed range. After installing the stepper motor of the planetary reducer, the input speed of the motor is fast, and the output speed of the reducer is slow, which can successfully avoid the resonance region, making the motor run more smoothly.

(3)to achieve ultra-low speed motor operation
Stepper motor requires operation at ultra-low speed, many times our stepper motor is not up to, for example, 1 RPM, the installation of planetary reducer can achieve ultra-low speed operation. In the case of some ultra-low speed range Stepper Motors can be achieved, although the resonance area has been avoided, there will be a phenomenon of motor crawling, and the operation is not smooth. After the installation of the planetary reducer, the motor speed is increased, and the motor can run at ultra-low speed, making the motor run smoother.
